Organic Terracotta tile is renowned for its natural variation in color, sheen, and texture — this contributes to its characteristically unique and authentic charm. Sporting a unique, lived-in look for those who deeply appreciate the natural patina of handcrafted tile.
VARIATION
V3 MODERATE VARIATION: Notable variations in size (sizing is nominal), texture, flatness and some coloration. Noticeable variations contribute to the handmade authenticity.
It is normal to find natural indentations, pops, divots, scuffs, and variations on the surface. Excess clay or minor chips may be present on the surface, edges, or back of the tile. Irregular marks or lines that resemble fold marks may be present, all of which are common characteristics of authentic, handmade terracotta tile.

GROUT JOINT
1/4" to 3/4"
Narrower joints, generally used on tiles 6" and below, create a more modern aesthetic, while larger joint widths are suited for larger tile sizes creating a traditional look.
An additional deviation of ± 3/8"in size is considered acceptable for joint straightness and variation of flatness.
Smaller grout joints may result in variations in the straightness of the grout joint, so we recommend consulting a skilled installation expert to increase the probability of a successful installation.

SHEEN | UNSEALED
Organic Terracotta comes unsealed, resulting in a more demanding installation process. It is highly recommended to seal Organic Terracotta tiles before and after installation with Ultra Low VOC sealer.
P A T I N A + W E A R
Organic Terracotta has distinctive handmade characteristics, such as minor chips, hairline cracks, and natural distressing. It is our most varied tile and will naturally develop a patina.
Patina is reflective of a surface changing over time and being exposed to various elements. The natural process of weathering not only enhances authenticity, but also adds depth, while serving as a reminder of the history and passage of time.
The installation examples have resulted in different worn looks. The richer colored tiles have been oiled and sealed to minimize patina, while the lighter installations have been left untreated to wear naturally. The final look depends on how it is treated or sealed and the natural wear over time. Keep in mind some post installation factors that are characteristic of these tiles.
