Synopsis

Shot on real, working brick yards in Saltillo, Mexico, Lente y Ladrillo follows a traveling photographer who spots a distant cloud of smoke and decides to chase it. Her search takes her through Saltillo’s historic streets, its clay quarries, and finally to the source, a Ladrillero, quietly shaping and firing brick by hand, the same way it’s been done for generations.

Through the photographer's lens, the film reveals Saltillo’s landscapes, its architecture, and the raw beauty of the brickmaking process. Each photograph freezes a moment, guiding the viewer deeper into the world she’s discovering.

This film is part of the larger Ladrillero series, an ongoing project to honor and elevate the Mexican brickmakers who’ve given so much to Clay Imports, and to inspire a new generation to see traditional brick making from a fresh perspective.

Story by Nick Barreiro. Directed by Jinyoung Yang. Photography by Austin-based photographer Chase Daniel.
