FAQ

Is sealing required?

Before installing your pool waterline tile, seal each piece with a penetrating sealer, preferably Clay Imports Penetrating Sealer. Dip each tile into the sealer for 2 seconds, wipe away excess from the glazed surface with a clean cloth, and let them dry face-up on a flat surface for at least 1 hour.

Watch our video on How to Seal Clay Imports’ pool waterline tile for more details.

What makes Clay Imports waterline tiles unique?

Waterline tiles by Clay Imports bring a unique flair to your pool with modern, colorful tile designs. Offering a more diverse selection than traditional glass tile, you can transform your exterior by curating a serene escape or make a bold statement.

What is the difference between standard clay tiles and Pool Waterline Tiles?

We fire the Pool Waterline tiles at a much higher temperature than our standard Handmade Clay Tiles and apply more pressure when pressing the tile bodies, which makes them more dense and less susceptible to moisture absorption.

Can I install these tiles on a fountain?

Yes, you can install this Pool Waterline tiles in a fountain. However, much like swimming pool waterline applications, expect patina and potential crazing.

Can I install them submerged, inside a pool?

Though our dense, high-fired clay tiles have been installed submerged in fountains and swimming pools without any issues, we advise you to take extra precautions when installing these tiles in a submerged application and to reach out to a professional wet area tile installer.

Will these tiles crack?

Proper installation prevents cracking; follow our waterline installation guide and use a water barrier underlayment for longevity.

Handmade Clay Imports Swimming Pool Waterline Tiles may gain patina and develop slight crazing, which are aesthetic and do not affect integrity.

What is the lifespan of these tiles?

Properly installed, this product will endure decades; for best results, follow our waterline installation guide.

Do you offer a warranty on the installation?

Our installation guides are general resources; since tile installation determines project integrity, Clay Imports does not warranty this product and is not responsible for post-installation dissatisfaction. Please inspect all tile upon receipt and notify us immediately of any quality concerns.
