Usage

Recommended for

- Interior floors, walls, mudrooms, kitchen islands, entryway, backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, showers, steam rooms, decorative walls and bathroom floors.

- Commercial and high traffic areas such as restaurants, bars and offices.

- Stair risers.

- Some outdoor applications, such as, patio floors under a covered area. Outdoor kitchens and showers in warmer climates and most areas not directly exposed to freezing conditions.

Avoid use in

- Areas exposed to freezing conditions, sloped floors in wet areas, stair treads and commercial kitchens.

We recommend Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA 38 Avalanche.

Grout Joints

We recommend between 1/8”-1/4" grout joint for rectified tiles, due to a natural variation in size. An additional deviation of ± 1/4" is considered acceptable for joint straightness and variation of flatness.

Although a tighter grout joint is achievable, we recommend consulting a skilled installation expert to increase the probability of a successful installation.

Trim

For a clean and contemporary look, we recommend Schluter Schiene Satin Anodized Aluminium - 3/4". This sleek metal trim is paintable and available in various finish options. For additional information on trim, email us at contact@clayimports.com!

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
- About Clay Tile :
  
  Clay Imports developed our “Encaustic Pattern Clay” line, to simulate the look of cement tiles immediately following installation, with a mild sheen. We produced this line by applying a decorative glaze layer on top of a durable clay body then firing the tile at a high temperature. The firing process makes this produce resilient to moisture absorption. Therefore, they do not need to be sealed (low maintenance tile) and will not patina.
  
  Though they are also handmade and include great handmade characteristics, they are easier to care for than popular cement tiles and significantly easier to install. If you are looking for a low-maintenance tile, then go with Encaustic Pattern Clay.
