Our selection of Peach Fuzz tiles for 2024
By Clay Imports
The beginning of every year is also the beginning of a new future in design. Every year, the design and printing industry seeks and tries to predict how the trends of the year will look like and one of the most important indicators is with a color to cherish what’s coming and 2024 is not different. This article will teach you which color it is and most importantly, the tiles that celebrate the shades, sheen and cheers this color can bring.
What is Pantone?
If you are in any design industry, chances are you are already familiar with Pantone . Pantone is a company dedicated to all things color, they are leaders in color and printing consistency between mediums. Pantone developed the Pantone Matching System®, which according to their website is an innovative tool allowing for the faithful selection, articulation and reproduction of consistent, accurate color anywhere in the world.
Pantone has served as a tool for designers for half a century and has become a trend among creators with their heavily anticipated releases of the “color of the year”. Pantone was popularized not only for their innovative technology, but also for its easy categorization. The tool organizes color standards through a proprietary numbering system and chip format, which have since become iconic to the Pantone brand. So, if you need to match the paint of your walls, fabric, or tiles, you can find the six-digit code of that item and you will have the exact color that blends with your designs.
What is the Pantone Color of the year?
According to Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, the choosing of the Pantone color of the year started in 1999 as a way to spark conversations between designers and create a robust community. To choose the color that will be featured for the year that’s running, the experts at the Pantone institute take a deep look at the trends and technologies that are shaping multiple industries.
“The color we select to be our Pantone Color of the Year is bigger than one region or one sector of design. It is a color we see crossing all areas of design; a color that will resonate around the world, a color that reflects what people are looking for, a color that can hope to answer what they feel they need.” With this quote, Pressman confirms that the choice for the color of the year will make an impact in multiple ways across different industries, including, of course, the tile and construction industry.
Peach Fuzz: the Pantone color of the year 2024
This year, the Pantone color of the year is Peach Fuzz. This beautiful peach-to-pink hue was chosen for the calmness and optimism it irradiates. Laurie confirms that Peach Fuzz was the selected color of the year because it can express our desire to want to be close to those we love and the joy we get when allowing ourselves to tune into who we are and just savor a moment of quiet time alone. It needed to be a color whose warm and welcoming embrace conveyed a message of compassion and empathy.
As we saw in our Tile Trends for 2024, we are now experiencing a design shift into a more cozy, familiar and intimate expression. Peach Fuzz achieves this by being a shade that blends perfectly with browns and neutrals colors are being more and more used and by evoking the colors present in our first memories: the colors present in our the sunsets and dawns of our school breaks or the warmth of the fireplace we shared with our most beloved ones.
As Pantone mentions in their website: “Peach Fuzz creates a welcoming ambiance. Promoting feelings of gentle warmth whether appearing on a painted wall, in home décor, or acting as an accent within a pattern, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz infuses our most personalized worlds with a comforting presence”. How does this translate into our tile work? We are glad you asked!
Tiles of the color of the year
As Clay experts, we are obsessed with orange, pinks and earth shades, so when we discovered the Pantone color of the year 2024 we were excited to show and talk about the tiles that best suit this fantastic color.
Before we start, consider that all the tiles featured in the next lines are completely handmade. Handmade tiles exhibit natural variations, which are inherent traits of natural materials like Terracotta. These variations in color, texture and sheen are not defects but rather a natural part of the product. We highly recommend ordering samples before making a final purchase to confirm and appreciate these natural variations in each tile.
First, let’s talk about the patterned and glazed tiles. Straw hat is part of our subway tiles, a versatile glazed tile that can be easily installed by experts or as a DIY project. If you want to know more about this kind of tile, take a look at this article. Peach Fuzz is a perfect blend between orange and pink, but if you want to lean more into pink territory, take a look at our pink tile collection.
Next, we have multiple options of patterned tiles that follow the Pantone color of the year. Our favorites are Tulipe and Pio Pio, fantastic tiles part of our Patissiere collection. These tiles are more patterned and design heavy, so you can blend them with more sober colors that complement our goal of a Peach Fuzz home. Our team's favorite corresponding Sherwin William paint shades are Shoji White (SW 7042), French Roast (SW 6069) and Baked Clay (SW 6340).
We understand that Sherwin William or Pantone are not the only color categorization companies. You can find shades similar to the ones we discussed earlier with Backdrop (Ghost Ranch, Harvest Moon and Champagne Bonefire are similar choices) or Farrow and Ball: their No. 49 Porphyry Pink and the No. 202 Pink Ground are fantastic shades for these tiles.
But, if there are tiles that shine with the selection of Peach Fuzz as the Pantone color of the year are our natural, organic terracotta tiles. Our terracotta tiles are the result of years of expertise working with natural, straight from the earth materials that add not only a robust texture to your spaces, but also make a comfy, warm vibe that will create a stunning design.
Next you will see some examples of our tiles that match this year’s Pantone selection, but you can find even more options by checking our Natural Terracotta collection or by searching Pale shades for all our types of tiles.
