    Cotto tile is all about the earth tones

    Timeless terra-cotta hues and leather-toned variation are applicable to many design styles ranging from traditional hacienda to desert modernism.

    VARIATION

    V3 MODERATE VARIATION: Significant differences in texture and color within the same batch of tile. It’s noticeable and contributes to the handmade tile look.

    TEXTURE

    SLIP RESISTANCE: Cotto tiles have a rough surface, making them ideal for indoor or outdoor uses. Cotto tiles are not slippery when wet.

    First, figure out what style you’re trying to bring to the room.

    GROUT JOINT

    You can space out Cotto tile as wide as 3/4” and go as small as 1/4.” It is important to note, smaller grout joints may result in variations in the straightness of the grout joint.

    Generally, smaller joints are used with smaller tiles (6” and under) and tend to create a more modern look. Larger joints are used with larger tiles and maintain the traditional look.

    Cotto tiles are celebrated for their unique rustic and authentic appearance, which is characterized by variations in color, sheen, and texture. It's recommended to blend the tiles before installation to ensure a natural look.

    USAGE

    Cotto tiles are a versatile terracotta, suitable for a variety of spaces. Due to their rough texture, they tend to collect more dirt and require regular cleaning. For exterior or freezing temperatures, additional measures such as waterproofing with a water barrier underlayment and a topcoat sealer are recommended to ensure durability. Proper maintenance is also crucial for the longevity of the tiles.
