Reverse Terracotta: One Tile, Two Textures

Reverse Terracotta: One Tile, Two Textures

Meet Reverse Terracotta tiles, where the classic warmth of terracotta meets a fun, reversible design!

Made in Mexico from real clay, Reverse Terracotta is a 10×10 tile with a subtle difference: both faces can be used. One side is smoother; flip the tile over for a more textured surface. Use one side throughout, or mix the two for a little variation underfoot.

Reverse Terracotta is extruded, a straightforward production process that helps keep it easy to replenish and the price approachable.

What Makes Reverse Terracotta So Special?

Two usable faces give the tile its range. Keep the smoother side up for a more even look, turn it over to show more texture, or alternate between the two. Natural variation in color, texture, and surface is part of the character of real clay.

Reverse terracotta tiles offer two sides.

The two faces offer different looks for floors, walls, and other tiled surfaces. The smoother side has a quieter surface; the reverse brings more visible texture. Which side works best depends on the look you want and the requirements of your installation.

 - Smooth Side: Ideal for indoors, this side provides a clean, polished finish that's perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, and hallways.

 - Textured Side: Perfect for indoor and outdoor spaces, this side adds depth and character, making it perfect for vertical applications on patios, exterior walls, or stunning accent features. The texture also provides additional slip resistance.

Why You'll Love Reverse Terracotta!

You don’t need two different tiles to get two different surface effects. Use one face throughout for a consistent look, or combine them to create a subtle pattern. Either way, the natural variation of the clay keeps the finished surface from feeling too uniform.

Craftsmanship That Shines

Reverse Terracotta is made in Mexico from real clay using an extrusion process powered by solar energy. Extrusion makes production efficient and gives the tiles a more consistent shape, while the clay’s natural color and surface variation remain part of the finished look.

You'll get:

  • A denser terracotta resulting in high durability and lower porosity
  • More uniform texture and color.
  • A refined look that celebrates terracotta's natural beauty.
  • Better thermal performance, a great option for radiant floor heating

Product Highlights

  • Size: 10" x 10"
  • Material: Unsealed terracotta (Seal before and after installation, following the recommended installation instructions.)

Finish Options

The sealer you choose affects the tile’s final appearance. Both options help protect the clay; one adds a soft sheen, while the other keeps the surface looking more natural.

Ultra-Low VOC Satin Sealer: Adds a satin finish and slightly deepens the tile’s color. Its low odor makes it a good option for indoor projects, and it can also be used outdoors.

Penetrating Sealer: A solvent-based sealer that helps preserve the tile’s natural appearance. It’s suited to wet and outdoor installations.

A few ways to use the two faces

  • Lay the smoother side across a bathroom floor for a more even look.
  • Alternate the smoother and textured faces in a checkerboard pattern.
  • Use the textured side to add variation to a patio or feature surface, where appropriate for the installation.

The tile’s simple square shape works well in layouts that let the clay and its surface variation take the lead.
