GROUT
TYPE We recommend Mapei Natural Saltillo grout for D'Hanis Red Terracotta.
JOINTS Saltillo tile joint spacing can be as wide as 3/4” and go as small as 1/4.” Generally, smaller joint sizes are used with smaller tiles (6” and under) and tend to look more modern.
Larger joints are used with larger format tiles to accommodate for irregular sizing of handmade tiles while maintaining straight joints and their traditional aesthetic.
TRIM
Bullnose | Versatile transition piece that can be used on floors or walls. Featuring a rounded bullnose edge that creates a smooth transition between surfaces.
Miter Cut | With miter cuts, you can conveniently create 45-degree angles for corners, niches, and edges, or cut down and miter standard pieces to a create custom trim.
Exposed Edge | Embrace the natural elements and leave the edge unfinished. Remember to seal your edges!
SEALANT
Yes, sealing is recommended. Even though your D'hanis tiles come pre-sealed, adding a coat of sealer after installation is recommended to help preserve their aesthetic.
- A top coat of sealer provides added protection to your grout, maintaining its integrity and color.
- A top coat sealers are different from the factory seal on your Saltillo tiles and offers an extra layer of protection, especially important for high traffic areas.
MILD MAINTENANCE

1. Regular Cleaning:
