An Intro to Grout Color Choices
You have set your eyes on that beautiful handmade tile from Clay Imports. Maybe it’s already in your garage, ready to find its home in your project. But…have you chosen your grout yet? Often, many underestimate the power of grout in tile design. While it’s always a good idea to consult your tile installer about grout selection, we have put some guidelines together for you. Let’s talk grout colors!
WHAT COLOR GROUT SHOULD I CHOOSE?
Grout color is important for your overall design! There are a myriad of options if you go the conventional grout route. Here are the directions you can take with grout color:
MATCH YOUR GROUT COLOR TO YOUR TILE.
A matching grout puts the tile itself in the focus. This way you avoid “breaking up” the pattern, or have distracting lines, that can change the tile design.
USE A CONTRASTING GROUT COLOR
A contrasting grout can be impactful if you want to enhance the shape or pattern of your tile. Here, a light grout really shows the shape, highlighting each tile as part of a big picture.
USE A NEUTRAL GROUT
Neutral grout colors, like off-whites or light grays, are a great “in-between” option. They neither create high contrast nor do they blend in too much with your tile.
USE COLORED GROUT
This one is for the bold ones among us. If you want to make your tile really stand out, use bright blue, red, or yellow colored epoxy grouts. Most designers choose a colored grout for a white square or subway tile for the wow effect.
