Heritage House adds a modern design using Red Terracotta Tiles
An ode to nature and symmetry
By Clay Imports
Just outside Austin, in Dripping Springs, lies the pinnacle of what modern design means. The brilliant minds at @northarrowstudio designed this jaw-dropping luxury hill country home with breathtaking views, gorgeous interior design and, of course, two of our favorite tiles to crown this aesthetic. Although their tile choice was an unexpected one, their use of terracotta intertwines with modern design elements is something that could inspire you to create a similar look in your next project.

North Arrow Studio, along with the renowned Canedo Builders and Bravo Petro Homes did an outstanding job with this modern country style house: its sleek lines, high-end finishes, and attention to detail is something that is only shown when experts' hands decide to bring a modern touch. Which is why we were thrilled when they decided to use one of our more classic tiles for the interior and exterior floors of this house.

D’hanis red is our best tile option for those who want natural terracotta tiles but with a more refined and consistent look. This is because D’hanis has less variations, in color and sizes, between each tile.
Another characteristic of D’hanis red is its density. This tile, despite being handmade, is more dense than other natural terracotta tiles, making it more durable, more resistant to patina and the satin finish is less slippery when wet. Which is why this tile is featured inside this house but is also one of the best terracotta options for an outdoor tile.

A hill country house without a pool is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the jelly. So naturally, this house features our champagne quarter circle waterline as the tiles used to enhance the aesthetic of the outside pool. This project is the clear example of how you can use your creativity and transform a classic exterior tile into the key piece of modern design with an astonishing result.
