How They’re Made Our dog paw and chicken foot Saltillo tiles are crafted using the same time-honored methods as traditional Saltillo. Each tile is hand-pressed from locally sourced clay in Mexico, sun-dried, and kiln-fired. While the clay is still soft, paw and foot impressions are pressed in by hand, creating real imprints, not stamped or printed designs. The result is a tile that feels warm, organic, and full of personality.
Natural Variation Because these tiles are handmade, no two are exactly alike. The number of paw or chicken foot impressions can vary from tile to tile, and imprint depth will naturally range from subtle to more pronounced. This variation is part of what makes Saltillo special and exactly what gives these tiles their character. Expect a collected, imperfect, and joy-filled look that feels unmistakably Clay Imports.
