RECYCLED CLAY
Every Recycled Clay tile tells a second story. Made from reclaimed clay and handcrafted using a closed-loop process, these tiles combine authentic handmade character with a more thoughtful approach to manufacturing.
Recycled Clay tiles begin with second-quality glazed tiles that are crushed and blended with locally harvested raw clay and recycled water. The reclaimed material is formed into new clay bodies, then sun-dried, kiln-fired, and glazed to create a beautiful, long-lasting tile.
Any tiles that don't meet our quality standards are returned to the recycling process, creating a closed-loop manufacturing system that reduces waste while delivering the same handcrafted quality and performance you expect from Clay Imports.
Each tile is individually handcrafted, resulting in natural variation in color, tone, size, flatness, and surface texture. These characteristics are not defects, they're part of what gives recycled clay its authentic handmade character.
Slight differences from your sample to your full order should be expected. For the most balanced appearance, we recommend blending tiles from multiple boxes during installation and using a grout joint of at least 1/8" to accommodate natural variation.
Recycled Clay tiles are designed to perform just like our traditional handmade clay tiles. The kiln-fired glaze creates a durable, easy-to-maintain surface suitable for a wide range of residential and commercial applications.
By giving reclaimed clay a second life, these tiles offer lasting beauty while reducing material waste, proving that sustainability and craftsmanship can go hand in hand.
