Usage

Recommended for

- Interior floors, walls, mudrooms, kitchen islands, entryway, backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, showers, steam rooms, decorative walls, and bathroom floors.

- Commercial and high traffic areas such as restaurants, bars, and offices.

- Stair risers. 

- Some outdoor applications, such as patio floors under a covered area. Outdoor kitchens and showers in warmer climates and most areas not directly exposed to freezing conditions.

Avoid use in

- Areas exposed to freezing conditions, sloped floors in wet areas, stair treads, and commercial kitchens.


Variation & Lead Time

Natural variation is a characteristic of handmade tile, and inevitable. As a result, expect variations in size, shade, and thickness. Our tile offerings also show irregular edges and the appearance of fine cracks. This can vary from piece to piece.

We strive to honor quoted lead times. Please be aware that there may be circumstances, due to order assortment and handmade production, that cause our lead times to fluctuate. Lead times are estimates based on the business day after an order has been paid for and are subject to change. If there are any changes that affect the quoted lead-time, we will notify you promptly. We are working diligently on production completion and you receiving your Clay Imports material, in a timely manner, is of utmost importance to us.

Grout & Trim

Grout Color and Joints

Although grout color is based on personal preference and your specific project, we recommend Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA 38 Avalanche. Read our grout color blog for additional recommendations.

We recommend grout spacing between 1/16”-1/8”. Due to size variation in handmade tile, a smaller grout joint can create uneven grout lines, therefore larger grout lines can be easier to install. This is a recommendation, so feel free to consult us if you need additional guidance.

Trim

For a clean and contemporary look, we recommend Schluter Schiene Satin Anodized Aluminium - 3/4". This sleek metal trim is paintable and available in various finish options. For additional information on Schluter options, email us at contact@clayimports.com!
