    Natural variation is a characteristic of handmade tile, and inevitable. As a result, expect variations in size, shade, and thickness. Our tile offerings also show Irregular edges and the appearance of fine cracks. This can vary from piece to piece.

    Clay Imports “Gloss Sealer” is ideal for creating the traditional look of a glossy Saltillo floor tile while providing the highest level of protection from moisture absorption and staining.

    Clay Imports Gloss Sealed Tiles are coated with 3 layers of Acrylic sealer. Please note that though acrylic sealer is a great barrier against staining and moisture, it will show light scratches from things such as dragging furniture and dog-nails.

    Although grout color is based on personal preference, Clay Imports recommend the following.

    For a more traditional, larger grout joint style installation: Saltillo specific gray grout. 

    For a more conventional installation: Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA.

    Grout Joints

    Depending on the desired look, you can use grout joint spacers up to ¾.” We recommend a minimum spacing of 1/4”.
