Trail-Inspired Tile Vibes: Inside the Pecan Springs Project with Jordyn Garcia

Home Design Inspired by Nature’s Colour Palette

Welcome to the heart of Central Texas, where design meets nature, and color rules the day! Designer Jordyn Garcia brings us inside her wildly creative Pecan Springs project, a home that’s anything but beige. If this house had a soundtrack, Jordyn says it would kick off with Praise You by Fatboy Slim. And honestly? It fits. This project celebrates color, personality, and the kind of style that deserves a slow clap.

Nature-Inspired, Casual, Fresh

No overthinking necessary: these are the words Jordyn uses to sum up the space. And when you see the mix of tiles, colors, and natural textures, it’s clear she nailed the vibe. From the bright, functional kitchen to the relaxing bathrooms, every room feels intentional and tailored to the needs of a young family.

Why Desert Fields Tile Collection?

Jordyn didn’t just throw colors at a wall and hope they stuck. The house sits near creeks, surrounded by live oak trees and native cacti: natural elements that directly inspired the design concept.

“I wanted the home's color palette to feel like it came from the trails in the nearby greenbelt.”

To bring that vision to life, she leaned into Clay Imports’ Desert Fields collection, mixing color and tile sizes for a fresh, cohesive effect. In the kitchen, she used two sizes of Mirage tile to create a clean, modern grid that complements the blue cabinetry and brass accents. The bathroom tells a different story; here, Yucca tile in soft, muted hues sets a calm and grounded mood. The contrast between warm wood tones and matte finishes adds depth, while still staying true to the home’s nature-driven feel.

Random Isn’t So Random

The powder bathroom floor might look playful and effortless, but that “random” layout took careful thought. Jordyn paired Clay Imports’ Americano and Mod Rio tiles in a bold pattern that dances across the floor. To push it further, she chose slate blue grout, giving the design a distinctive pop.

“The word ‘random’ is a little misleading because this pattern actually takes a TON of planning.”

To make it work, she hand-sketched the layout in the materials floor plan and created a dry mock-up for the contractor. It’s the kind of extra effort that transforms a good idea into a total design win.

Oh Hell Yeah Moments (And No Regrets)

One of Jordyn’s favorite memories? Watching her client, already a big Clay Imports fan, see the tiles come to life on install day. That moment of “we did it” hit hard. No regrets. No doubts. Just pure tile magic.

The Magic of Collaboration

Designing with Clay Imports was more than a brand choice: it was a vibe match.

“Clay Imports is my go-to for tiles that are edgy and inspired by nature's color palette.”

The Pecan Springs home uses five different Clay tiles across multiple rooms, proving that bold, artistic tilework can still feel connected. It’s not just about pretty surfaces, it’s about creating flow, story, and identity in every space.

Dream Projects and Maine Adventures

So what’s next for Jordyn? She’s moving to Maine for the summer, where she’ll be restoring her 1920s Colonial Revival farmhouse. But her heart still beats for Lockhart, the Texas town she calls home. Her dream project? Designing a commercial space in Lockhart that honors its historic charm, maybe with some original stained glass and, of course, standout tile.

Final Thoughts

The Pecan Springs Project is proof that great design doesn't shy away from bold choices: it embraces them with purpose and personality. Jordyn Garcia’s vision, grounded in nature and guided by a fearless use of tile, transforms everyday spaces into meaningful, artful experiences. From the clean lines of Mirage in the kitchen to the playful pairing of Americano and Mod Rio in the powder bath, each tile tells a story, and together, they sing in harmony.

This home is more than a design showcase. It’s an invitation to break the rules, trust your instincts, and design with joy.
