This Chic Industrial Boy’s Bath Takes Cues From A Locker Room

A boy’s bath that is not to kid-ish reminds us of a locker room utility

Etch Design Group’s client approached the full-service interior design firm with two ideas in mind: her boy’s bathroom should not read too kiddish or overly “done-up”. Instead, they felt inspired from an industrial locker room style.

So, the designers incorporated classic elements with modern prints and whimsical accents to tie the design together. They used materials that would have been used originally in the house, an old bungalow, mixed with some funky, unexpected materials.

The result? A boy’s bath design that features some awesome, kid-friendly utilities. There is a lot of storage, a big trough style sink, and a bench to hang and chat. The lighting, industrial pendants contribute to the overall feel of the space. The coolest feature though? The interplay of wallpaper and tile.

The wallpaper was actually one of the first things the client brought to the designers. They chose the Aviary wallpaper from Schumacher. The client loved the wallcovering from the beginning, but wasn’t sure if she should use it. And Etch Design Group knew right away it would look great! Hence, this print really set the tone for the remodel.

Taking cues from the funky, black and white print, Etch designed the space using different types of tile. From classic white squares (hello locker room style!) to black and white mosaic floors, the green clover tile from Clay Imports brought in the perfect pop of color to this boy’s bath.

If you look closely, you will see the unconventional mix of green shapes, such as squares, subway, and even trim pieces. When Etch Design Group placed the order with us, we were so curious of what the final project would look like. And we love how this space turned out!
