A Home for All – 2nd Annual Fundraiser for Casa Marianella

AUSTIN, TEXAS, March 9, 2018 – Clay Imports and Friends announce the 2ND Annual Casa Marianella Fundraiser Festival to benefit the Austin refugee shelter Casa Marianella. The event takes place at Clay Imports Fine Handcrafted Tile, 12024 N Lamar Blvd, ATX 78753 on Saturday, March 17 from 5pm-10pm.

The festival invites the Austin community as well as residents, staffs and volunteers of Casa Marianella to connect and establish personal relationships while enjoying an eclectic program of music, poetry, and art. The event aims to create a community which supports newly-arrived in need of housing and work. In addition to the connectivity aspects of the event, there will be live performances.

David Arnsberger (Spamarama, Uranian Savages, Sun Radio) will be the MC of the evening.

The event will kick off with a storytelling and poetry session by writer, actress and spiritual storyteller Amparo Garcia-Crow and Forth Worth poet and human rights activist, Tammy Gomez.

Headliner Dickie Lee Erwin will present a wide range of the rich Texas music heritage, accompanied by David Arnsberger. Dickie Lee Erwin is a seasoned songwriter based in Austin. He is a part of the Texas songwriter tradition of playing songs that come from the heart.

Special guest, singer-songwriter Jon Mukhwana will perform acoustic. Jon Muq is a musician on the rise who knows from his own life what means to leave his home of Uganda.

Returning acts to “A Home For All” will be Straight out of New Braunfels, the only Jermanicana Music Band in Texas. Straight out of New Braunfels, play Americana with a German accent.

Also performing again is New Fame. Adrienne Mack Davis (vocals) is a classically trained soul/ hip hop artist. Her sound is compiled of her struggles and triumphs weaving together gut-wrenching melodies and poignant positive hard-hitting lyrics. Together with Felicia Cruz, New Fame is currently travelling the world using their superpowers to entertain and inspire those around them.
Varela Film will document life at Casa Marianella and the fundraiser festival at Clay Imports: A Home for All.
The event is part of Clay Imports and Friends core mission to support Casa Marianella in providing resources to serve recently-arrived immigrants and asylum seekers from around the world

About Casa Marianella
Since 1986 Casa Marianella is a volunteer-driven emergency homeless shelter in east Austin, serving recently-arrived immigrants and asylum seekers from around the world. In addition to shelter, Casa offers access to legal and medical resources, food, clothing, English classes, and other resources. Casa Marianella currently consists of three neighboring houses for men and women without children, while Casa’s Posada Esperanza branch has expanded to four neighboring houses. Their agency as a whole shelters an average of 325 individuals annually as well as providing assistance and services to the community.
