You can space out Saltillo tile as wide as 3/4” and go as small as 1/4.” Generally, smaller joints are used with smaller tiles (6” and under) and tend to create a more modern look. Larger joints are used with larger tiles and maintain the traditional look.
Variation in color, sheen, and texture for Glazed Terracotta tile is normal—it’s part of what makes the installations look so uniquely rustic and authentic. Blend the tiles beforehand.
Glazed Terracotta tile can be installed in almost everywhere. However, for climates with freezing weather, proper precautions must be taken to waterproof the flooring area (water barrier underlayment and topcoat sealer). We recommend the surface of the floor must be sealed properly and inspected prior to every winter.
