The Inspiration

The restaurant’s building, a repurposed town hall from the Ninh Binh region of Vietnam, is the physical embodiment of a dining experience that takes inspiration from history and cultures. The design intent of this project was to transform a reclaimed 1880’s Vietnamese Town Hall into a functioning, inviting restaurant. Essentially, Deborah Kirk had a new construction project that involved a reclaimed structure with seamless additions.

The Design Elements

The beauty and history of Tillie’s is an extension of the property on which it sits. Camp Lucy, a Texas Wine Country resort, combines the sophisticated charm of the Hill Country with world-class luxuries and modern amenities. In order to create a truly exceptional setting, Deborah curated a combination of design elements: antique decor, carved wood accents, sophisticated furniture and last but not least outstanding handmade tile.

Working with Clay Imports Project Manager Gaby Hernandez on the handmade custom tile designs is an absolute joy! She makes the customization process so much fun and seamless. I always know that I’m going to get exactly what I envisioned from Clay Imports projects.

Custom cement tile flooring evoke the old-world feel Deborah has envisioned for the space. And the bar backsplash is a perfect mix of jewel color fish scale tiles.
