Which do you prefer? The original Regular Saltillo tile with square edges and the look of handmade clay tiles, rich with character. Or the Super Saltillo tile with a smoother surface, rounded corners and edges yet with all the beauty and soft shading of natural clay colors.

Both are first sun-dried, a step which dates back to the 15th Century, then the Saltillo tile is kiln fired for superior quality. Because of this "old world" artisan-based approach, the shape and size of each Saltillo tile is varied just enough to make each tile unique to the floor (or wall) where it is installed, including the famous chips and dings common to Saltillo. And legend tells us that animal prints on your Saltillo tile means "good luck and happiness" for the owner. Rugged, earthy, and unique in their non-uniformity, Saltillo tile is a beautiful alternative to more stately, machine made porcelain flooring.

In 2008, we took our Talavera to a new, environmentally safe plateau. After years of testing to preserve the true Talavera colors, all of our tile is now ASTM tested and RoHS-compliant to be classified as LEAD FREE. No other producer of Talavera tile can make this claim.
